What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. Some are needed for the site to work at all; others help the site owner understand how the site is used.
The cookies we use
Essential cookies
Always on. These make the site, its forms, your account and payments work, so they don't need your consent.
| Cookie | What it does | Set by | Lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
ifatoolsai-session | Keeps the forms working as you move between pages, for example to show your thank-you message, and keeps you signed in to your account. | ifatools.ai | 2 hours |
XSRF-TOKEN | Protects the forms against cross-site request forgery. | ifatools.ai | 2 hours |
ifatools_consent | Remembers your cookie choices, so we don't ask on every page. | ifatools.ai | 12 months |
remember_web_… | Only for our team: keeps an admin signed in when they tick "Keep me signed in". | ifatools.ai | 400 days |
remember_account_… | Keeps you signed in to your firm's account, only if you tick "Keep me signed in". | ifatools.ai | 400 days |
__stripe_mid | Helps prevent fraud when you pay. Only set on the checkout and payment-method pages. | Stripe | 1 year |
__stripe_sid | Helps prevent fraud during a payment. Only set on the checkout and payment-method pages. | Stripe | 30 minutes |
Analytics cookies
Only set if you allow analytics. They help us understand how the site is used so we can improve it.
| Cookie | What it does | Set by | Lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga | Tells different browsers apart, so we can count how many people use the site. | Google Analytics | 13 months |
_ga_EF4V63MCYP | Keeps track of your current visit, such as the pages you view. | Google Analytics | 13 months |
We don't use advertising, social media or tracking cookies. Apart from Google Analytics, if you allow it, the only other company that sets cookies on this site is Stripe, and only on payment pages.
Payment pages
Subscription payments are taken by Stripe. On the checkout and payment-method pages only, Stripe sets the __stripe_mid and __stripe_sid cookies to help prevent fraud. These are strictly necessary to take a payment safely, so they don't need consent. Your card details go straight to Stripe and never touch our servers. Stripe's cookie policy explains how it uses them.
How Google Consent Mode works on this site
We use Google Analytics in Google Consent Mode. The Google tag loads on every page, but it is told straight away that you haven't consented, and it only uses cookies if you allow analytics.
- Before you choose, or if you choose Essential only: Google sets and reads no cookies. It receives basic signals without cookies instead: that a page was viewed, the page address and time, your type of browser and device, your approximate location worked out from your IP address, and your consent choice. Google uses these to estimate how many people use the site, without identifying you.
- If you allow analytics: Google Analytics also uses its cookies, so it can tell visits apart and see how people move around the site.
- Advertising is always off: the site tells Google that advertising storage, advertising data and ad personalisation are not allowed, whatever you choose.
Google Analytics
Google Analytics shows us which pages are visited, how people find the site (for example from a search engine or LinkedIn), the type of device and browser used, and roughly which country or city visits come from. It helps us understand what's useful and what isn't.
- We have switched off Google's advertising features and Google signals.
- The site sends no names, email addresses or form answers to Google.
- Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses.
- Analytics cookies expire after 13 months, and Google Analytics keeps the usage data for up to 14 months.
Google explains how it uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and offers a browser add-on that blocks Google Analytics on every site.
Changing your choice
You can change your mind at any time using Cookie settings at the bottom of every page, or the button at the top of this page. If you withdraw consent, we tell Google straight away, delete the Google Analytics cookies from your browser, and reload the page.
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser's settings. Blocking essential cookies may stop the site's forms from working.
The law
Cookies and similar technologies are covered by the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR). Under regulation 6, essential cookies that are strictly necessary for a service you have asked for don't need consent, while analytics cookies need your consent first. Personal information collected through analytics cookies is processed on the basis of that consent, under Article 6(1)(a) of the UK GDPR.
The basic signals Google receives without cookies are used on the basis of our legitimate interests in understanding how many people use the site (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). You can object to this at any time by contacting us, and you can stop them being sent with the browser add-on above or a browser that blocks tracking. There's more about how we handle personal information in our privacy notice.
Changes and questions
If we change the cookies we use, we'll update this policy. If we add cookies that need your consent, we'll ask for your choice again. If you have any questions, email hello@ifatools.ai or use the contact page.
